As counselling involves sensitive (“special category”) data, I also process your information under the condition of providing health care.

  • Paper-based records (locked cabinet, secure location)

  • On secure practice management software or email systems

  • In supervision (anonymously, as required by BACP)

6. How Long I Keep Your Data

 

Client records are retained securely for up to 7 years after therapy ends, in line with insurance and legal requirements. After that, records are securely destroyed.

 

If you contact me but do not begin therapy, your enquiry and contact details will be deleted within 1 month, unless agreed otherwise.

 

7. Your Rights

 

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your data

  • Correct or update inaccurate information

  • Request erasure of your data (in certain cases)

  • Restrict or object to data processing

  • Withdraw consent (where applicable)

  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO
